By showcasing India's Global Sustainability Leadership, this Summit is likely to demonstrate our Commitments to Sustainable Development and highlight the Innovative Disruptive Solutions and practices that India has embraced, I urge everyone to professionally align and contribute their valuable insights and expertise for this Global Sustainability Summit. Together, we can build a sustainable future for generations to come.

I have, in fact, a great privilege to join one of the Brainstorming and Knowledge dissemination workshop on “Reducing Carbon–Footprint by enhancement of Renewable Energy; Appropriate Policy and Actions”, Of IISD-CMI as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, where I at my capacity of the Joint Secretary, had a detailed presentation, on how we at MNRE, are steering Policy and Program for National Solar Mission. The Participants were from PAN India and some were from the different parts of the Globe also. I do recollect, we had an intense discussion, in a quite longer Q&A Session with enlightened participants. I wish IISD-CMI every success in their future endeavours ahead.

IISD-CMI has exhibited the unique dedication by contributing remarkfully to Environment, Energy Conservation, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation and particularly to Carbon Sequestration through IISD-CMI UNEP Climate Neutral Program and IISD-CMI UNEP Billion Tree Campaign (5th June, 2008-2030), which has created sizable societal and environmental impact, for which UNEP recognizes these efforts under Leadership in Catalyzing Environment Actions.

IISD’s Initiative, Carbon Minus India (CMI), Verified and Certified Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA), Level 1 and Level 2; of 4 International Airports i.e Varanasi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Thiruvananthapuram, of Airport Authority Of India (AAI), under Ministry Of Civil Aviation, Government Of India, throught an International Bidding Process. Congratulations. Great Job Done IISD-CMI.

We at UNEP, Congratulate IISD for promoting the debates and discussions; also for taking the bold National Measures so far, to address Plastic Pollution Preventions. The effects of our triple Planetary Crisis of Biodiversity Loss, Pollution and Climate Change are rapidly becoming inescapable and complex – because these three crises are deeply ingrained in plastic pollution. IISD’s Popular PAN India Campaign, “Say No to Single Use Plastic”- is the Key Driver, Center-staging People’s Movement, against plastic pollution today. I do Congratulate IISD-CMI, for doing wonderful work in the areas of both Fresh Water & Marine Water Conservation and Plastic Pollution for addressing Climate Change.

I am glad that IISD engages in National level Debates, Public Policy Dialogues, Scientific Research and Innovations as well as Community level initiatives in most Important areas of concerns of today i.e. Decarbonisation of the Economy, thereby reducing the emission intensity of our GDP, Solar, Green Hydrogen, Electric Vehicles, Battery Storage, Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation, Resource Conservation Projects to improve, in achieving UN SDGs, for India. We at NITI, recently brought out a State Ranking Report, based on their performance in Indicators, as SDG India Index 2020-2021, which names and shames, creating competitions among them, so that they improve their Index Ranking, next year.

I am quite familiar with Dr Srikanta K. Panigrahi Ji's Interests and Out Of Box Initiatives in Introducing Biofuels in India's Energy Basket, for which IISD and CMI, both the exceptional Institutes of national importance, played historic roles and contributed to the nation, Where we at Indian Oil were Partner to this Journey in a big way. In addition, I also do remember, both the Institutes, also have undertaken a lot Of Capacity Building Programs for Our Faridabad based R&D Division Of Indian Oil, especially when I was Director(R&D), IOCL. All Best for their Success ahead.

We at OIL have received qualitative professional service delivery in a number of projects, relating to Environment, Health & Safety and Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation and Carbon Management from Carbon Minus India (CMI), an IISD initiative since July 2008, worth mentioning Adaptation and Mitigation Preparedness Plan 2030 for OIL in response to INDCs and Capacity Building Programs etc.

I Congratulate IISD, for initiating innovative measures, in the field of Sustainable Development and leading a powerful international platform, such as IISD Sustainable Fashion Professional Network (ISFPN), where Sustainable Fashion, as a Special Discipline of Fashion Technology, Fashion Design and especially Fashion habit’s impacts on our Lifestyle to achieve UN SDGs. We at Government of India, including Ministry of Textile extends all its support for this unique initiative of IISD. I wish IISD, all the Best for future endeavors.

I am very glad that IISD- CMI, the both proud National Think Tanks and Scientific Research Institute are working Round the Clock to make differences in many ways to save the Mother Earth. You all at IISD, please keep it on. My support is always with you, I hope a day will finally come; the Earth will be free from all Pollutions, Toxic Wastes, Natural and Manmade Disasters and environmental catastrophes, so that from Our Old Grand Parents to small Children at home, will be healthy and free from any disease; because of environmental degradation. Planet is in a difficult state today, we are only responsible for this and we need to retrieve it, for our own existence now.

It is indeed a matter of pride that IISD has successfully undertaken, "The Comprehensive Water Audit of Leh PHE Water Supply System 2020" for the very first time in the history of Ladakh. This report has brought to light the current water supply scenario and will facilitate in envisaging all future projects. I congratulate the entire team of IISD and other partners associated, for investing their time and energy, in undertaking this significant review and compiling an extensive report .This would prove to be of great help for water planning in Ladakh. I wish team IISD-CMI all the best for their present & future endeavours.

IISD-CMI is doing excellent Research and Innovation Experiments, with adequate consolidation and disseminating valuable research information, through Brainstorming Workshop Sessions and Technical Roundtables, in many Public Sharing Platforms, which is unique of its kind. I have participated in few of such technical workshops & Knowledge dissemination Roundtables. I have great admiration and support always for their dynamic vision, followed by right implementations. I know IISD-CMI is doing wonderful Research and Academic Work, in the domains of Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Water and Climate Change. I once had an Opportunity to join one of their Research Workshop at India International Centre (IIC), as the Chief Guest; where I found, many reputed Researchers and Corporate Leaders, from PAN India; were intensely delivering, debating and discussing, where I do shared my opinions, on many Social and Environmental Issues that we at India, are encountering in our day today life. At IISD- CMI, they have achieved many milestones, I wish them success in the rest of their ongoing missions.

I am highly impressed with Professional deliveries of the both proud National Think Tanks and Popular Scientific Research Institutes, IISD-CMI. They has done a series of credible assignments and also have landed their hands to prepare many DPRs in Solar, Wind , Biomass and Small Hydro Projects, at National and International level, in addition to impart right Capacity Building and Training in Climate Change Adaptation , Mitigation, Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Domain, in general and also with GAIL.
